Sister Smith PR to support West London trade mission to Hainan
Sister Smith PR has supported the delivery of a West London trade mission to Hainan, which took place in March 2026, led by the West London Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Brunel University London and TechStart.
The delegation brought together businesses, academics and young professionals from West London to engage with counterparts in China’s Hainan Free Trade Port, with a focus on technology, innovation and skills exchange.
Sister Smith PR led communications around the mission, supporting media engagement and documenting key moments from the visit. The role focused on ensuring the outcomes of the delegation reached stakeholders across business, education and policy.
Becca Smith, founder of Sister Smith PR, said the mission demonstrated the value of international collaboration.
“This was not a symbolic visit,” she said. “It created real connections between West London businesses and partners in Hainan, while giving young people direct exposure to how global markets operate.”
The trade mission builds on ongoing collaboration between the West London Chamber of Commerce and Brunel University London, with a shared focus on linking education, enterprise and international opportunity.
TechStart participants formed part of the delegation, representing a model that integrates work, training and global exposure. The visit provided opportunities to meet businesses, explore emerging sectors and understand the pace of development within the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Sam Liu, founder of TechStart, said the experience had a lasting impact on those involved.
“Taking young people into environments like this changes their perspective,” he said. “They come back with a clearer sense of what is possible and where they fit within a global economy.”
Organisers say the mission has laid the groundwork for further collaboration, including discussions around innovation, skills development and future exchange between the UK and Hainan.
The partnership with Sister Smith PR is expected to continue as follow-up activity from the trade mission develops.
